Griswold Soccer Club
Chikumbuso Project
Some time ago , Griswold Soccer donated some left over inventory of frisbees and water bottles. These bottles made their way to Africa, specifically Zambia through the Chikumbuso Project. The Chikumbuso Project began as a response to the AIDS endemic, that is devastating much of Africa. Christelle Lachapalle, a coordinator for the project, presented Griswold Soccer with photos of the children holding these bottles and frisbees. The Area is extremely poor and we were told that some of the children didn't even have a real ball to play soccer with, and that they used bound up paper and garbage bags. We decided to try and do something more for these children. Griswold Soccer is going to put together a Chikumbuso Drive, ( Chikumbuso means remembrance) to support the efforts in Zambia. We are asking you to consider to donate your used soccer gear ( Jerseys, balls, cleats, etc. )or new gear to the designated drop off areas. During the Season in will be at the concession stands, and will posted here for other locations. Let's not take for granted the advantages we have here in Griswold Connecticut USA to help these kids. If you have any questions, at all please feel free to contact any of the Griswold Soccer board members, the names below and view the links. http://chikumbuso.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zambia
